Home is not always a place. Sometimes it is a garment, a pattern, a piece of jewelry, an ornament, a drum -- a way of carrying yourself that says: I come from somewhere, and I have not forgotten.

Threads of Us is a portrait series by Patricia Mutebi that follows that thread through the lives of immigrants, diaspora communities, and Indigenous peoples in Minnesota, photographing participants in attire and objects that hold meaning, memory, and belonging.
